Three Secrets Melaleuca Distributors MUST Discover BEFORE Approaching Another Person About Their Melaleuca Business!

Melaleuca BusinessOne of the biggest challenges anyone faces with Melaleuca and network marketing in general, is successful prospecting and sponsoring. It takes some distributors months, if not years of hard work to sponsor one or two people into their Melaleuca business! What’s worse is many don’t even get this far. Tired of constant rejection and embarassment they quit before sponsoring anyone into their organization.

So really, what makes prospecting and sponsoring so hard? Why do so many distributors struggle in this area? And what’s the solution, if any? You’ll be happy to know that I think I’ve got the answers…I think. Let me explain.

The reason that so many distributors stink at prospecting is… because they’re doing exactly what they’re being told to do.

Let me ask you a question.

What’s one of the first things you do after signing up for Melaleuca?

Make a names list, of course.

So you put pen to paper and write down everyone that you can possibly think of, past present and future. Family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, you flip through old high-school yearbooks, church directories, and even dust off the old rolodex, to come up with as many “prospects” as possible.

Now that the names list is made, you’re taught to approach them, one way or another, right? Good ole’ fashioned network-marketing prospecting.

It might be a simple phone call mentioning the business.

It might be a face-to-face encounter.

It might be that one of your upline members calls your prospects for you.

It might be that you borrow them a DVD that introduces the opportunity.

It might be that you invite them to a Melaleuca hosted event.

It might be that you mail them a package of information.

Whatever the case, “how” you’re approaching your prospects doesn’t even matter. It’s the fact that you’re approaching them! Your “prospects” have never asked to be “prospected!” What makes you think they’re interested in your business opportunity?

When you approach someone, you’re trying to persuade and convince them into your business. This gives you no “power” in the distributor/prospect relationship, because they don’t need anything from you, and you need them for your business.

This is a very important and often overlooked sales concept.

The Melaleuca distributor in need of the prospect has no power, while the prospect holds all the power, because he can satisfy the distributor’s need.

Ultimately you (the distributor) want all the power from the start. This is done by positioning yourself to be a solution for your prospects problem, instead of approaching them, where they’re the solution for your problem.

Very successful network marketers, the “gurus” who build massive organizations, have one thing in common. They have power over of their prospects from day one. They never let the prospect take this from them; in fact, the prospect is lucky if he gets placed in the distributor’s organization.

So how exactly do you position yourself as a leader or expert? Good marketing. It can be online or offline, it really doesn’t matter. The key is getting your prospects to contact you. What are some specific marketing techniques? The possibilities are limited only by your imagination. But this gets into another topic, for another post, for another day.

Understand this, the keys to successful Melaleuca prospecting is positioning and power. You have what they need, not the other way around.
