Create Your Own Melaleuca Leads By Building A Website!
If you’re thinking about setting up a website for your Melaleuca business but just aren’t real sure where to start, then this info is definitely for you.
I’ll hold your hand and walk you through the first few steps you’ll have to take. Don’t worry, there won’t be anything too technical, and I’ll explain everything in plain English! No geek speak here, I promise.
First off, let’s start with a domain name. If you’re not exactly sure what this is, you’re not alone, so don’t worry about it. Here are a few definitions to help you understand.
“The unique name that identifies a website.”
“The address of a particular website.”
For example, (http://www.google.com) “google.com” is the domain name. It’s the address or place where this website can be found online. In other words, your domain name is your piece of internet real estate. It’s your online address.
If you don’t have a domain name yet, you’ll need to buy one. Where’s the best place to do this? There are a few places to consider.
http://www.GoDaddy.com (known for their wildly popular Super Bowl commercials)
http://www.Register.com
http://www.1&1.com
All of them are reputable companies, and I’ve personally worked with two out of the three. It comes down to personal preference, but if I had to recommend one it would be Go Daddy…and no, it’s not because of their Super Bowl commercials.
Now that you know where to buy them, you have to come up with your very own, unique domain name. But before whipping out your credit card to snatch one up for yourself, here are some things to consider.
Never, ever purchase a dot net, (.net) dot org, (.org) dot info (.info) or a dot biz (.biz) to use as your primary domain name. Always use dot com. (.com)
You might be asking yourself, “Why does this really matter? Isn’t dot net (.net) or dot info (.info) the same as dot com?” (.com) And my answer would be absolutely not.
You never want to confuse your Melaleuca leads!
They’re used to typing in dot com (.com) after a website address, don’t make them have to remember otherwise!
Choose a domain name that’s short, and easy to remember. You should seriously think about using your own name. Chances are it’s still available, and this would really be an excellent chance to further position yourself as a leader and expert within Melaleuca and the industry in general.
Avoid using misspellings in your domain name. If the domain that you want isn’t available don’t buy a common misspelling.
For example, (Help4You.com) should be (HelpForYou.com)
Again, this will just confuse your Melaleuca leads, especially if they’re only able to “hear” your domain name and not actually “see” it. I’m not saying you can’t do this, but try to avoid it.
Consider purchasing the dot net, (.net) dot org, (.org) and dot info (.info) versions of your domain not to use as your primary domain, but to eliminate the possibility of someone else buying them. Doing this will insure that once your site starts getting traffic, no one will be able to siphon traffic away from your primary domain with a cheap imitation.
I hope these simple tips help you when you’re buying your domain name. Getting your own website online is one of the best things you can do for your Melaleuca business, and it all starts with picking out a domain name and buying it.
